- This
site is under re-construction because I did something dumb and
broke a bunch of links - sorry, but please bear with me as I go
through a redesign and get everything back where it belongs.
This website is
all about wild flowers and weeds ... and the birds and the bees
They're
not your ordinary run-of-the-mill garden variety - but the wonderful,
colourful world that exists in disorganized chaos when Mother Nature
gets to be the Head Gardener.
This is not
intended to be a scientific database of all the weeds and wildflowers
-
it's just me having fun taking pictures of the ones I find in my
neighbourhood, trying to identify them and provide some information about
them. If you find mistakes, please let me know so I can correct
them. I am not an expert.
This site hopes to answer the question, "Gee, I wonder what that
is?" when you
see
them
while out walking the dog, hiking the hills
or playing with the kids in your own backyards.
I didn't have to go far to get these pictures - almost every one of them was
either just outside my door in the orchard or within an easy 20 minute
drive from my house. Most of them I spotted along the roadside, in
ditches and in fields as I was driving to and from work.
My
goal with this website and as a nature photographer is to urge people to
care about nature and wildlife, and understand the need to preserve and
protect Mother Nature's precious native plant resources through my photographs.
This
current edition is a redesign of my old website - it was time for
a new look. I am still moving files and photos over, so it is
rather incomplete at the moment. Please bear with me and check
back often.

The Eleventh Commandment
“Thou shalt inherit
the holy earth as a faithful steward, conserving its
resources and productivity from generation to
generation. Thou shalt safeguard thy fields from soil
erosion,
thy living waters from drying up, thy forests from
desolation, and protect thy hills from overgrazing by thy
herds, that thy descendants may have abundance forever. If
any shall fail in
this stewardship of the land thy fruitful fields shall
become sterile stony ground and wasting gullies, and thy
descendants shall decrease and live in poverty or perish
from off the face of the earth” (Lowdermilk, 1942).
Amen. Class
dismissed.
